You Irk Me Things That Irk or Annoy Us

We have all seen this happen and this is something that used to really irk me when I was waitressing. I still see it all the time; I call them kid appeasers. Instead of parenting their child they appease their child, and they are appeasing their child for bad behavior just to make them quiet! This irks me to no end; you need to parent your kids! You don’t need to give them the beating of their life for throwing a temper tantrum. You also don’t need to let them have the salt shaker to throw across the room at their server walking in; just because they were yelling that they want the salt shaker that you took out of their hands.

The child is not in charge you are in charge. Just because your child is yelling at the top of their lungs and crying does not mean you give them what they are throwing a fit over. This only makes them see the pattern that they yell and scream and you give them what they are yelling about to appease them. How does this teach your child? It doesn’t it appeases them and the next time they will do the same thing.

You need to be the parent when your child yells even though it stinks for you to have to get up from the table you need to. You need to get up and pull your child away from the table to parent them, talk to them, and let them know that this is not ok behavior for the restaurant. Instead of what most people do by giving their child the object they want to use as a throwing device.
