You Irk Me Things That Irk or Annoy Us

So I will never for the life of me understand how some people pass their road test. Most people don’t even know what the common traffic laws are. I actually had someone ask me, “What does the red flashing light mean?”… And this is someone who has a license! The red blinking light means stop and then proceed with caution when you are able to.
Now the driving sign that is on my mind is the yield sign, does anyone even understand what yield means? According to the NYS-DMV a Yield Sign is defined: As the driver you need to slow down as you approach the intersection. Prepare to stop and yield the right-of-way to vehicles and pedestrians in or approaching the intersection. You must come to a full stop at a yield sign if traffic conditions require it. When you approach a Yield sign, check carefully for traffic, and be prepared to stop.
Can you re-read the last line for me… Be prepared to stop. Yield does not mean that you stop; yield is not a stop sign. Stop signs are stop signs and yield signs are yield signs… As a driver you need to continue to drive and do not stop because if you do I am bound to smash into the back of your car because you do not stop at yield signs unless there is oncoming traffic!

I know that a lot of my posts are all about things that irk me while driving but I seem to be on the road with the crazy people or maybe I am the one who is crazy. Anyway when I am driving into work every morning my daughter and I get off at a particular exit where the left two lanes have arrows to turn left onto the main road however no one pays attention. It is really dangerous when you think you are clear to turn left and the person in the left most lane decides that he can go into either of the two lanes on the road we are both turning on to. Please pay attention when there are two turning lanes because that means the left lane should go into the left most lane and the right lane that is supposed to turn left also will have to go into the right lane on the road you are turning onto. It is really not safe to just assume that I am going straight because my directional is on and you were next to me to see that my directional was on and if you were driving defensively you would pay attention to the cars around you and realize there are two turning lanes. Even though my lane can go straight or turn left does not mean I will go straight all the time. So PLEASE WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING WHEN TURNING AND STAY IN THE CORRECT LANE!

This is really annoying and very dangerous. It irks me when someone decides that they want to use the HOV lane as a regular lane that they can enter and exit whenever they want. I take the HOV lane to and from work every day and when there is traffic in the main lanes cars that happen to have two or more people use the HOV as a regular lane that they come and go without any restrictions. It causes a safety hazard and is really annoying. What is even more annoying is that they usually get away with it. I wish there were video cameras on the highway watching the HOV lane they would have hundred of violations that they could help the state budget. When you are in the HOV just wait a few hundred feet to get out or if you have a wait an exit or two just do it and turn around. Swerving in and out of the HOV lane is not right and it is very distracting to the people who are correctly using the HOV lane so PLEASE stop!

This is really annoying to me because it is more than just  a major fashion faux pa it is just really ugly. When an old man decides that today is the day he wants to wear sandals but apparently he does not want to have bare feet in them and he decides to wear white socks. It is common understanding that when you wear sandals that you wear them without socks. If you look up white socks and sandals on the web it says a footwear combination only worn by the fashion challenged. If the problem is that you have moldy fungus full feet then you should be letting your feet breath anyway and get them checked out by a doctor. If your feet have the tendency to be hot and sweaty than use foot powder it will help tremendously and save you from making this terrible fashion faux pas.

There are some people who do not understand that they are being rude when they just leave their Bluetooth on their ear the whole time during a meeting. It is not a fashion accessory! It would be appropriate to take it off if you arrive for a meeting and join the people at the table. It is almost like they are holding their cell phone up to their ear the whole time during the meeting and not only is it on their ear but it is still turned on and the blue light is blinking. Are you currently on the phone? Do you need to be talking to someone? If the answer is no then take it off your ear at least. If you just hung up with someone remember to take it off. You are not still in your car so you do not have to use it anymore. Why is it still in your ear? Are you trying to make a new fashion statement because it is pink and it matches your clothes or that it is blue and it matches your eyes? Or even better trying to cover up you lost your earring on that side? If you are not on the phone and do not have to be on the phone and are meeting with people please take off your Bluetooth because this really IRKS me!

This is an annoying thing that happens at work all the time. When I am on a conference call and we are on speakerphone and one person talks people do not realize that they have to wait until the other person is done speaking in order for the microphone portion of the phone to pick up your voice. If one person is talking you cannot really interupt them. It annoys me how many people try to interupt and then you cannot hear them and they said something important and then they have to repeat it any way. Speakerphone are not like regular phones and the microphone is picking up only the first person talking and then if you start talking it breaks up and people cannot hear you. So please when you are using the speakerphone let the other person finish what they are saying so that we can all hear the important wisdom you have to share with all of us.

People who block the door to a store irk me! There are people who need to enter and exit the store how are they supposed to do it with you blocking the entrance? I don’t get this at all. If people were to leave a clear pathway for people to get in and out of the store the store wouldn’t become over crowded and people would be able to come and go easily. No instead they need to stand right in front of the exit and there are like 5 people in front of the door to exit, so that it is impossible for me to leave I need to stop and say excuse me. They all look up at me like where do you want us to go? I don’t know maybe away from the front of the door so I can exit. They all are still just staring off into space and they have clearly heard what I have said. So now I need to be mean, I have to push my way through and almost knock people over just to get out of the store. Really people can you be a little more kind and considerate do not block the entrance and exit to the store!

THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WHO FORGET TO TAKE THE CAP LOCKS OFF ON THEIR COMPUTER AND THEY JUST TYPE EMAILS OR FACEBOOK STATUSES AND THEY ARE ALL IN CAPS AND THEY AREN'T YELLING.

Ooops I am doing exactly what irks me. If you are not mad or excited about something then there is no reason why you need to type in call caps. SO PLEASE STOP TYPING IN ALL CAPS because I am sick and tired of you yelling at me. It really seems like something is wrong when you type like that. You should try to read your own typing it is difficult to read and actually distracting. The reader does not know whether there is something wrong, you are yelling or you are just excited!
